Former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was shot in the city of Nara on Friday morning, after which his condition remained critical.

Abe was admitted to a nearby hospital after being shot. Shinzo Abe has lost the battle for life in the hospital.

Shinzo Abe was the longest serving Prime Minister of Japan. Born on September 21, 1954, Abe was the first Prime Minister of Japan from 2006 to 2007 and then from 2012 to 2020.

Shinzo Abe's grandfather Nobusuke Kishi was also the Prime Minister of Japan from 1957 to 1960. At the same time, his father Shintaro Abe was the Foreign Minister of Japan from 1982 to 86.

Abe, the former PM of Japan, has always been close to India. In 2006-07, Abe visited India and addressed the Parliament here.
